18 December 2009
Consumer prices for the month of November 2009 were -0.1 percent, shedding 0.9 percent on the October 2009 rate of 0.8 percent. This decline follows an increase in prices of 0.8 percentage point for the month of October 2009.
The decline in prices for November 2009 was mainly attributable to month-on-month non-food inflation which stood at -0.15 percent, shedding 1.18 percentage points off the October rate of 1.03 percent.
This was spurred on by month-on-month Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages inflation, which stood at -1.2 percent, shedding 1.25 percentage points of the August rate of 0.05 percent.
The CPI for the month ending November 2009 was, therefore, 91.9 percent compared to 92.0 percent in October 2009.
